Diadora Relay Across Europe Runs To ‘Make It Bright’

Diadora Relay Across Europe Delivers A Pair Of Shoes

Yep, those are the Alps in the background.

This post is sponsored by Diadora. I thought it was a fun story and a great opportunity to share drool-worthy running pics from Southern Europe.

1482 km. 920 miles. 35 runners from 10 countries. Nine days. And one shoebox.

That’s what happened when Italian athletic and sportswear company Diadora decided to fulfill a shoe order in an unexpected way. The idea? Turn the routine into an epic adventure.

Diadora Relay Across Europe Delivers A Pair Of Shoes

I want to go to there!

One unknowing customer set-off a nine-day, 1500-km relay across Southern Europe when he pre-ordered a pair of Diadora’s new N9000 running shoes. Instead of boxing and shipping the shoes per usual, they delivered them on foot.

A team of 35 runners—and one dog!—from 10 different countries passed the shoebox like a baton from Diadora’s factory in Milan, Italy to the customer’s front door in Barcelona, Spain. Runners ranged in age from 19 to 56 years old. Among them were four couples, and one even flew in an airplane for the first time to participate in the relay.

Disneyland Paris Half Bib-Only Registration Opens

Disneyland Paris Half Bib Only Registration Opens

Meet Mickey at the finish (runDisney)

Bib-only registration for the inaugural Disneyland Paris Half Marathon opens Tuesday, February 16 at 5 p.m. Paris time, or 11 a.m. Eastern. The race weekend runs from September 22-25, 2016 at Disneyland Paris in Marne-la-Vallée, France.

Registration through Disney travel partners opened in October. If you’re interested in a travel package that includes hotel, race bibs, and more, Magical Racecations in the U.S. still has availability for all of the weekend’s running events, as of press time.

Charity partners will also have bibs available at some point in the future.

I’ll be headed to the race to write about the event courtesy of runDisney. Excited? As Mickey Mouse would say, “Oh, boy! Oh, boy!”

How To Register

1) Register for a bib only, without a travel package, online.

2) Call the Disneyland Paris Reservation Center. The U.S. phone is 011 33 160 30 20 30. Phone numbers are also available for other countries in the link. Runners can buy running packages any time.

3) Book a package through one of the travel agency partners. Magical Racecations and GET Travel Sports are the U.S. agencies, but seven other agencies in the U.K. and other countries have packages for runners as well. You can book through any of them. Magical Racecations does have packages available as of press time. Packages include at least three nights hotel, one three-day park ticket, and a half-marathon or 5K registration, with other additional options.

4) Register to run with a charity. Limited charity entries will be released soon.

It’s official! The much-anticipated inaugural Disneyland Paris Half Marathon is coming to France from September 23-25, 2016. Disney announced the new race at the start of the Disney Princess Half Marathon presented by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at Walt Disney World in Florida on February 22, 2015.

No other information about the race has been released just yet. But you can register your interest at DisneylandParis.com to get more details about the event and registration when it’s released.

My husband has been trying to get me to Paris since we first met seven years ago. As a native Montrealer, he speaks French fluently, attended French school while living abroad as a child, lived and worked in Paris in college, and loves all things French. Methinks this will finally get us to book the trip. I’ve only been to Paris once about 15 years ago. So I’m definitely overdue. I think a runDisney race is the perfect excuse.

How about you? Aspirations to run the Disneyland Paris Half Marathon in 2016?

As a member of the media, I have attended runDisney events courtesy of Disney. But as always, all opinions are purely my own. I really do believe in being honest about my experiences. For more information read my Disclosure Policy.

In all, these 30 running events have 60 race weekends among them, and even more distances to choose from. Let the day dreaming begin!

The 30-year-old Marathon du Medoc in France may be the grandfather of wine races, with tasting stations along the course and wine-fueled parties all weekend long. But you don’t have to travel to France to guzzle grape at destination races that stomp through vineyards on the way to wine-fueled feasts. Events all over North America, from 5Ks to marathons, cater to wine lovers who like to run hard and drink harder.

I picked 10 wine running series with 20 races in 10 U.S. states and Canadian provinces for runners who like to cool down with vino. See them all at Shape.com.

From Jamaica and the Bahamas to the South Pacific and coast of Australia, these dream-worthy destinations have races to match. Want to surf in California? Party during Carnival in France? Hula in Hawaii? Get lost in the Bermuda triangle? You can, and run too. Read the rest of this entry →
