I agree. 5 races was abysmal. I'm hoping to do a lot more than that, even if I run some of them as tempo runs (like I did in Disneyland this weekend--I did a half-marathon and ran the first 5K super easy, then the last 10 as a tempo.) So far so good, I've already done 2 races in January!

They're good goals Karla. Only 5 races?! I think you could do a lot more racing, even if they're low-key local or club-style events. More short races in the mile to 8k range would be good. I raced 32 times last year and don't think that was overdoing it. Racing is good training for racing and for running fast. A tempo run isn't going to be as hard or intense as a race.

I feel like this challenge unfairly leaves out EuroDisney!
Seriously though, good luck with the 2 hour barrier, its an amazing feeling to break it.

Well done! My streak's still going -- have to get to 42 days to match my friend CJ's streak. Loved running in Central Park by the way. All the best with what remains of your winter training.

You've done well. I think I'd be down to 400m runs in those conditions! Whatever your racing plans are, you've built a good foundation there with the streak. Happy New Year by the way. It's the 31st down here.

Yeah, any time I've had to run in the snow/ice/freezing temps, I've kept them short. My fingers, nose and toes can't handle it for too long. But where I was in rural Canada, there are no underground carparks, treadmills, or other indoor options, so I had no choice. Got to keep the streak alive! Keep up your streak and you'll be sure to break 20 in the 5K. Happy 2012!

So, so excited for this. They previously had this race as an 8-miler (2009,2010) but retired the race. SO glad to see it back and I hope that you run it next year; we'll probably have a great group going

I'm liking this challenge too. Came to it late when I discovered a friend @cathyn61 doing it, so she's a couple of days ahead. Have challenged her to surpass my 39 days when we were holidaying in the US/Canada. The 'making running habitual' is one of the things I like about it. Also, it's good training for 'listening to one's body' -- knowing there'll be a run tomorrow and the next day and the next...

Saw you got in a one miler today. Can't imagine running in freezing temps on those snowy/icy roads. Think I'd be heading to the underground carpark for multiple laps rather than that!

Thanks! I really enjoyed running in fresh snow--it was deep enough in some spots to give me a real work out a la sand. Though I definitely had to shorten my stride to keep from slipping. But running in slush was not so fun. Running after a steak dinner was worth it to save the streak!

What beautiful pictures! Minus the slight slipping factor, I find running in the snow peaceful. And nice work on salvaging the streak on steak-and-creamed-spinach night.
