Registration for the Tinker Bell Half Marathon 2017 Weekend presented by PANDORA Jewelry opens Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 12 p.m. Eastern. The women-focused race weekend takes place from May 11-14, 2017 at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. The race is the third largest women’s running event in the U.S. with 11,435 finishers in 2015.

In addition to the title half marathon, the Tinker Bell Half Marathon 2017 Weekend also includes the Pixie Dust Challenge presented by PANDORA Jewelry, Tinker Bell 10K presented by PANDORA Jewelry, Never Land 5K presented by PANDORA Jewelry, and runDisney Kids Races.

The runDisney Health and Fitness Expo is free and open to the public Thursday, May 11 through Saturday, May 13. That’s where runners pick-up their bibs and race gear, find official runDisney merchandise, along with the coveted runDisney New Balance shoes, other retailers showcasing running apparel and products, and more.

Runners pour through Sleeping Beauty Castle (Disney)

Courses for the weekend’s races run through Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park and the streets of Anaheim with music, entertainment and Disney characters, not to mention thousands of costumed runners. And don’t forget the jaunt through Sleeping Beauty Castle.

The Pixie Dust Challenge rewards runners who complete both the 10K on Saturday and half-marathon on Sunday with a fairy-themed medal in addition to a medal for each race. To qualify, you must register for the Pixie Dust Challenge itself and not the Tinker Bell Half Marathon and Tinker Bell 10K individually.

The Tinker Bell Half Marathon 2017 Weekend is the second of runDisney’s two women-focused race weekends.

Runners who complete both the Disney Princess Half Marathon in February and the Tinker Bell Half Marathon in May earn a pink runDisney Coast to Coast Race Challenge medal, picturing Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse. Runners who complete any other half-marathon or marathon at both Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California in the same calendar year earn a blue runDisney Coast to Coast Race Challenge medal.

Tinker Bell Half Marathon Race Reports

I ran the inaugural Tinker Bell Half Marathon in 2012 and the 5th anniversary race in 2016, courtesy of runDisney. In 2012, I stayed at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, which was downright lovely. In 2016, I stayed at Disneyland Hotel, which has the most magical headboard and nightlight I’ve ever seen. (Hint: Think Sleeping Beauty Castle, fireworks, and music box audio.)

The best part? It took me all of 5 minutes to walk from both hotels to the start. All three of the Disneyland Resort Hotels—Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, and Disneyland Hotel—are within walking distance of the start and finish, as are some of the Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels.

Want to know what my experience was like? Here’s the scoop.
