The Disney half marathon race weekend will take place January 15-18, 2015 at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. Runners who register for the challenge and complete the 10K and half marathon on back-to-back days will earn an extra medal. Like every Disney half marathon, the weekend will also feature a runDisney Health and Fitness Expo, along with Star Wars Wookie Welcome Party and more Star Wars and Disney-themed entertainment. Course maps have yet to be released, but the races will run through Disney California Adventure Park, Disneyland Park, Downtown Disney and the streets of Anaheim, Calif.

Runners must be 14 years or older to register for the Disney half marathon and 10 years or older to run the 10K. The 5K welcomes runners of all ages and the runDisney Kids Races are exclusively for children ages 8 and under. And if you’re planning a running costume, keep in mind that runDisney does not allow costumes with face masks. So you’ll have to be extra creative with your Stormtrooper outfit. How fast will the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend sell-out? Likely, faster than the Millennium Falcon can travel 6.8323E-13 parsecs (that’s 13.1-miles). So if you want to be a part of this inaugural Disney half marathon, get online before noon Tuesday. Registration begins at 12 p.m. EDT on June 10 at www.runDisney.com.

I am anxious to see how quickly it sells out! I plan on doing this race in 2016 (unless Disney comes out with a Florida Star Wars race)!

I signed up for the Rebel Challenge and the 5K and could not be more psyched. I’m currently debating with myself back and forth as to whether or not the Wookiee Welcome Party is worth another $100 on top of Disney’s race fees.

Have you done any of the runDisney pasta/party events before? Will you have kids with you? Those would be the big factors for me. The time I brought my niece and nephew was the most fun–seeing them meet the characters, eat 5 desserts, and storm the dance floor made it amazing. They had a blast, and so I did too. On my own, it wasn’t quite as eventful. It depends on how big you want to do it up, I guess!
