My Disney Running Costumes: Drumroll Please…
If you’ve ever poked around, “Run, Karla, Run!” you know I loves me some Disney running costumes.
This year at the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, which I’m attending as a guest of runDisney, I got to come up with three—count ’em—three Disney running costumes for the Disney Family Fun Run 5K on Thursday, Walt Disney World 10K on Friday and Walt Disney World Half Marathon on Saturday.
Esmeralda Disney Running Costumes
First up for the Disney Family Fun Run 5K is Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Who can forget the sultry gypsy who sings one of Disney’s most haunting tunes, “God Help the Outcasts“?
But I won’t be alone. I’ll be run-walking the 5K with my mom, who is doing her very first race.
At a girls getaway last year, we took a Bollywood dance class together where we wore some incredibly fun coin skirts that tie on, just like Esmeralda’s. My mom bought two of them, one of which is perfect for my Esmeralda costume. So that will be the pièce de résistance.
And my mom? She’s wearing a coin skirt too. She’s not going full Esmeralda like me, but she’ll be a little gypsified too. She’s bringing the skirts with her, which is why mine is not pictured. We land at Walt Disney World today.
So if you’re out on the 5K course and you hear two ladies jingling near you, it might be us. And yes, I plan to actually carry that tambourine, too.
If you see me out on the course, please stop me and say hello!
There will be more Disney running costumes as the weekend marches on. Stay tuned…

My Walt Disney World 10K Costume
As a member of the media, runDisney is giving me complimentary race entries, hotel and park tickets for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. I buy my own airfare, most meals, etc. As always, all opinions are purely my own. Disney does not give me talking points, post requirements, story suggestions or the like. As with everything, I choose what I write about, when I write about it, and always give my honest opinion. I firmly believe in being honest about my experiences and Disney is no exception. For more, read my Disclosure Policy.
Cute!
Thanks!
I love it! Can’t wait to see what you are wearing for the rest of the weekend.
