On The Run at the ING New York City Marathon Ep. 1

The first episode of On the Run at the 2013 ING New York City Marathon is live!

This episode includes a look back at the runners who helped at Staten Island, an insider glimpse at New York’s fastest lady, and a conversation with a spirited drummer from Harlem who will play to the cadence of 45,000 runners.

Plus, one wheeler pushed 3,000 miles across America and another runner is hoping to become the race’s oldest finisher—at 93-years-young.

All these stories and more in this episode of “On The Run.”

Love these videos! The part about Sandy & Staten Island brought tears to my eyes. I’m so excited just to go spectate tomorrow, I can’t wait until I get the chance to run this race one day!

Thanks! Be sure to watch episode 2: the story of the One Spirit runners has a really moving Sandy element. They’re a group of Native American runners from the Oglala Lakota tribe who came to do the race last year to raise money for a youth community center on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Instead, they spent marathon Sunday volunteering in Staten Island. They’re back again this year to run. After following their story for over a year now, I’m really rooting for them.
