It’s marathon week in NYC! Even if you’re not running the 2013 ING New York City Marathon, there are lots of ways to be a part of the excitement. Here are just a few.

I’m back at it, catching the action with New York Road Runners’ “On the Run at the 2013 ING New York City Marathon.” We’ve got five race week episodes coming to you starting tonight, Wednesday, October 30. Joining me this year are Olympians Carrie Tollefson and Tim Hutchings as we give viewers an inside look at the largest marathon in the world.

What in store “On The Run?” We’ve got stories about runners from the front of the pack, in the middle and the back. The motto of this year’s race is “YOU make it the marathon,” and our show reflects that. Sure, we’ll talk to the pros, including World Champion Edna Kiplagat, defending champion Geoffrey Mutai and American challengers Meb Keflezighi and Jason Hartmann. Shalane Flanagan and Lopez Lomong will stop by before they run the NYRR Dash to the Finish Line 5K on Saturday morning. And a few marathon legends will stop by the “On The Run ” desk too.

But we’re also focusing on some of the 45,000 runners who may not be pros, but whose stories are inspirational, heart-warming, or just plain enjoyable. A competitive eater? Check. The oldest NYC Marathon runner in history? Check. Celebrity runners? Check.

So please check out the show. They will be available online daily at OnTheRun.NYRR.org after the following times:

  • Wednesday, October 30: 8:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 31: 8:00 p.m.
  • Friday, November 1: 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 2: 5:00 p.m.
  • Monday, November 4: 4:00 p.m.

ABC in New York

If you’re in the New York metro area, be sure to watch ABC7 on Saturday night at 7:30 for a 30-minute special “Countdown to the Starting Line.” I filmed a short segment for the show highlighting the top professional runners to watch in Sunday’s race.

The Marathon Show

The Marathon Show with Joe Taricani put together a podcast looking back at the 2012 ING New York City Marathon that wasn’t. I chatted with Joe at the end of the show about my experiences that week.

We talk to runners who were scheduled to run the 2012 NYC Marathon and who are running the 2013 NYC Marathon. How much do you remember about last year? Listen in as they all recount their experience around last year’s race and their plans for 2013. The 2013 ING New York CIty Marathon will be a historic race.

Give it a listen.

The ING New York City Marathon National Broadcast

For the first time in 20 years, the ING New York City Marathon is airing on national TV from coast to coast. Check out the entire broadcast schedule.

I’ll be on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram with updates from the Timex Media Center this week, the Dash to the Finish Line 5K on Saturday, and the ING New York City Marathon itself on Sunday. So stay tuned!

My husband won a contest through Dove Men’s Care and he gets to run on Sunday! I’m so jealous because I was supposed to run it last year and now he’ll be the one that gets to do it! Luckily I’ll get to tag along. (Although I am secretly hoping for a last minute bib to get to run!). Looks like you will be very busy all weekend, but if you get a spare minute I’d love to meet you. Let me know if you’ll be at the expo on Saturday at all, or maybe I’ll run into you Sunday while I’m out taking it all in.

Beth, that would be great! I know I’m filming at the expo at some point, I just don’t know when yet. And if you see cameras anywhere out on the course, it might me be or teams from ABC or ESPN. Sorry you don’t get to run, but at least you get to be here for all the excitement!

I love hearing that so many people are coming to cheer! It was watching the ING New York City Marathon as a spectator that inspired me to run a marathon…and to run my first one right here in New York. Really, the spectators are what make this race so amazing.
