Meet Up: Barefoot Running From Canada to Argentina

barefoot runner, barefoot running, If you follow the running media, you might have heard about Joseph Kai-Tsu Liu, the man who is barefoot running—most of the time—from Montreal to Tierra del Fuego at the tip of South America. From Canada to Argentina, Kai-Tsu is selecting an education charity to support in each country he runs.

His planned 12,000 mile journey has made headlines in Runner’s World, Canadian Running, CNN, The Daily Mail and more.

He departed Montreal in July and has made it to New York City. You can meet him there.

Kai-Tsu will be talking about his journey Thursday, August 8 at 11 a.m. at the Crocs store in SOHO. Everyone is welcome.

A Personal Connection

Kai-Tsu is actually staying at my apartment right now. I met Kai-Tsu at a wedding in October 2012. We were seated at the same table because we’re both runners. His brother, a fellow runner and triathlete, is a friend of mine and my husband through the groom—one of my husband’s best friends. Here’s the chain: I’m married to Phil who is childhood friends with Roberto (of The Expeditioners fame) who is friends with Wang-Tsu (who we first met years ago) whose brother is Kai-Tsu (who we met in October 2012). Got it?

So Phil and I offered our apartment as a way station for Kai-Tsu while he’s in New York City. I’m out of town, but Phil showed Kai-Tsu around and even loaned Kai-Tsu his favorite T-Shirt:

I’ll be following up with Kai-Tsu as he’s further on his journey.

You can follow him too. He’s set up a great map where you can actually track him via GPS and a website with all his profiles on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. He’s blogging and taking lots of photos along the way. And if you’re in New York City, take a long lunch and come out and meet him.
