Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend Registration

Runners, mark your calendars! Online registration for the runDisney 2014 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend from February 20-23 opens Tuesday, June 11 at noon EST. That includes registration for:

Plus, a lucky few runners will be able to register early for the 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon at Disneyland Resort in California with their Princess Half registration. Why would you want to do that? The new pink women’s focused Coast-to-Coast Race Challenge medal, of course. Online registration for the 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon officially opens on July 9.

What else is new for the 2014 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend? Well, runDisney just announced that in order to ease crowding on the course and improve the overall race experience for everyone, they will be making a few changes similar to their planned changes for the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. That includes:

  • Lowering weekend capacity by 2,000 runners, mostly in the half marathon
  • Requiring proof of time from runners anticipating finishing in 3:15 or less
  • Adding more corrals to both allow runners of similar abilities to be grouped together and to  spread out the field on the course
  • Not allowing any corral changes based on proof of time after December 1, 2013

In addition, the weekend will have all the other events runDisney fans have grown to love, including the three-day Disney’s Fit For A Princess Expo at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Kids’ Races, Race Retreat, Pasta in the Park Party, and Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend Breakfast after the Cinderella Royal Family 5K.

If you missed the announcement about all the new races at the 2014 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, here’s the scoop. The folks at runDisney have added two new events to the weekend:

The new Disney Princess Enchanted 10K, with its own yet-to-be-announced finisher’s medal, opens up runDisney to runners who are ready for more than a 5K but don’t want to step-up to the half marathon just yet.

Runners looking for a bigger challenge than the half can compete in the inaugural Disney Glass Slipper Challenge, which dares runners to complete both the 10K on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday for a total of 19.3 miles. They’ll earn three medals total: one for each race and a yet-to-be-announced specially designed medal for the challenge. Methinks it might involve a glass slipper.

Runners who complete both the 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon and 2014 Disney Princess Half Marathon five weeks later will receive a special edition runDisney Coast-to-Coast Race Challenge medal for runners who complete a marathon or half-marathon at both Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California in the same calendar year. Instead of the standard blue lanyard, the Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse medal features a pink lanyard and pink overlay.

Registration will be available at runDisney.com
