Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Gets 10K, Glass Slipper Challenge, Pink Coast-to-Coast Medal

Big news from runDisney! Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend from February 20-23, 2014 at Walt Disney World in Florida is getting the royal treatment with a new Disney Princess Enchanted 10K and a new two-race challenge in the Disney Glass Slipper Challenge. Based on the name alone, I like it already.
Princess Half Glass Slipper Challenge
The Glass Slipper Challenge follows in the footsteps of the Dumbo Double Dare at Disneyland: runners complete both the new Disney Princess Enchanted 10K on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday for a total of 19.3 miles. Best of all for Disney bling lovers, runners earn the inaugural Disney Glass Slipper Challenge Medal in addition to the medals from each event, including a new yet-to-be-announced medal for the 10K.
Judging by the wild popularity of the new Disneyland 10K and Dumbo Double Dare at the 2013 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend and the Walt Disney World 10K and Dopey Challenge at the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon, I’m sure the new Princess 10K and Glass Slipper Challenge will sell-out in a matter of days, if not hours.
Pink Coast-to-Coast Medal
But that’s not all. The 2014 Coast-to-Coast Race Challenge is getting a special women’s-focused medal. Blue is so last year—runDisney is thinking pink. Runners who complete both the Princess Half Marathon and Tinker Bell Half Marathon in 2014 will earn the special edition women-focused Coast-to-Coast medal, featuring Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse with a pink overlay and lanyard, instead of the standard blue.
The Coast-to-Coast Race Challenge is an ongoing runDisney event that rewards runners for completing a half-marathon or marathon at both Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California in the same calendar year.
My husband and I earned our wings at the inaugural Tinker Bell Half Marathon in 2012:
Then we earned out tiaras and our Coast-to-Coast at Disney’s 2012 Princess Half Marathon:
But we got the standard blue Coast-to-Coast medal. No doubt, runners will want to add the pink one to their collections.
Princess Half Registration
Registration for Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend opens June 11. A limited number of runners will be able to register for both the Princess and Tinker Bell Half Marathon then. Official registration for Tinker Bell opens July 9.

As part of the running media, runDisney sometimes provides me with complimentary race entry, hotel, park tickets, and some meals for runDisney events. But as always, all opinions are purely my own. I really do believe in being honest about my experiences and Disney is no exception. For more information read my Disclosure Policy.
I’ve never done any of the Disney races, but I have heard wonderful things (except extremely early start times). Love the race swag “wings” and “tiaras”. I know that my “Florida” race will be a Disney one for sure one day!

Yes, the starts ARE crazy early—-either before/after the parks open/close–but as a former swimmer and rower who sadly got used to 5 am practices, I think it’s worth it!

I’m so excited for this! I might have to miss out on the inaugural race, but this is now on my bucket list!

What Disney duo will you dress as next?

Undecided! We have a running list of ideas… or rather, I present Phil with the list and then he picks.
Oh my gosh, you guys look amazing in your Princess picture! I love it!
I am really excited about the new challenge. I’m not anywhere near a place where I could do a half marathon and then a full marathon in the same weekend — I’m also not anywhere near where I could do a 10K and a half in the same weekend, but I will be at that place much faster than I will be for the half + full! My goal is to do a half marathon this year, a full marathon next year and maybe the glass slipper challenge in 2016!

Sounds like great goals, Kristina! You’re wise to ease into all of this. A lot of people pile on too much too soon, which is recipe for injury.

Ok, first…I love your costumes! I don’t remember if I ever told you, but I walked by you during Marathon Weekend when you were wearing the pre-princess Cinderella costume and I remember pointing it out to my friends and telling them how much I liked it (I didn’t discover your blog until after and I was so surprised to see your pictures and realize I had seen you!).
Second, I haven’t done either Tinkerbell or Princess and this pink Coast to Coast medal makes it that much more tempting! I doubt that I’ll be able to do it this year since I’m already doing DL, W&D and Dopey, but hopefully in the next year or two!
That’s so funny! I’ve had a few people who read my blog recognize me at races, which is always fun. At WDW Marathon, I’d published a pic of my costume the day before and a few people spotted me on the course and said hi. I love that. You’re much easier to spot in a costume! Sounds like you have a full Disney sked this year! I’m thinking of doing W&D too. Tink and Princess are both really fun. Definitely recommend them for the future.

I’ll definitely have to keep an eye out for you next runDisney event we’re both at and come say hi!

The Princess was my first half ever, not just Disney, so I’ve been craving to do it again…and no I have my excuse! Plus the timing of the Princess is so much better to travel with Doug because he’s off that week already because of winter break. Now I just need to win lotto! So many races, so little time! And by time, I of course mean money lol

I hear you, Kellie! There are so many more races that I want to do than I can do.

Princess is probably my absolute favorite race!! I’m so excited that they’ve added the 10K. I’ve done Tink & Princess as my coast to coast races the last two years and the pink coast to coast medal is definitely tempting to do it again!
Awesome. I wonder how long it will be before they add a challenge that just includes every single RunDisney race during an entire calendar year.
That would be crazy! But I’m sure there are some people who have already done it!
