VIDEO: ‘On The Run’ at NYC Half Race Recap

It was an amazing day of running in New York City at the 2013 NYC Half on Sunday, March 17. Kenyans Wilson Kipsang and Caroline Rotich ran away with the men’s and women’s titles as 15,000 runners took a 13.1 mile journey through the heart of the city from Central Park, through Times Square and along the Hudson River to the spectacular Wall Street finish near the historic South Street Seaport.

Join me and Olympians Carrie Tollefson and Todd Williams “On The Run” at the NYC Half as we recap the men’s and women’s professional races, catch up with some of the charity runners we profiled earlier in the week and capture the spirit of the day.

Enjoyed that Karla, thanks. Re your last reply, no didn’t try and watch it online this time – late Sunday night our time and had an early start at work Monday.

Amazed it was quite a slow start for the men’s race, also that Lagat finished so far back. Didn’t pick Kim Smith’s demise either. Good to see a tall woman in Diane doing well – also Jason on the men’s side. It looked cold! All that snow in Central Park.

It was cold! About -6 Celsius at the start. A lot of the pro men said the cold was to blame for the slow start–that it just took that much longer to warm up. And I was sure Kim Smith was going to pull this one out. She just can’t seem to get a major win. I also love seeing super tall runners like Jason Hartmann. All the others are SO tiny, especially in person. Gives me hope for getting faster :)
