National Running Day Events In NYC
National Running Day is tomorrow, June 1! Get out there and celebrate as runners do—with a run. Here are just a few free National Running Day events in New York City:
Manhattan
What: Team In Training and NYCRUNS 5K Fun Run
NYCRUNS, JackRabbit Sports and Team In Training will run as one for National Running Day. Join them for a fun run in Central Park, followed by post run refreshments (including beer) and more at JackRabbit Sports.
When: Wednesday, June 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Meet at JackRabbit Sports Upper West Side, 140 West 72nd Street in Manhattan before the run in Central Park, Manhattan
Brooklyn
What: NYRR Singlets Mixer
Looking for a group to run with? New York Road Runners wants to help you find one. There are more than 100 running clubs and teams in the New York metro area. On National Running Day, representatives from local clubs will meet at Prospect Park, Grand Army Plaza entrance, to lead runs of difference paces. Afterward, mingle and socialize at Bar Reis, 375 5th Avenue, Park Slope.
When: Wednesday, June 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Where: Meet at Grand Army Plaza entrance of Prospect Park in Brooklyn
Queens
What: Trail Run in Forest Park with the Dashing Whippets
The Dashing Whippets will be hosting a trail run in Forest Park for National Running Day. They’re keeping it fun and simple, with 5 miles total on the bridle paths and trails of Forest Park. No need for special shoes since the trails aren’t too rugged. Afterwards, head back to Forest Hills for the train or grab a bite somewhere on “The Strip.”
When: Wednesday, June 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Where: Meet at the playground at Union Turnpike and 71st Avenue near the entrance of Forest Park in Queens
