I run because I carve out the time to run. There aren’t enough hours in the day to be a father, be a husband, be a director, have a second business, run errands and do everything else life demands of me. So I pencil in running. 5 days a week. I can run at 6AM one day and 10PM then next. I find the time. It’s my time and believe me, I’d rather be chillaxing with this time, but I run. Hey, I like spending time with myself and my asphalt.

Thanks, Drew! That’s a great reason. I’ve heard from some other folks that it gives them a chance to explore and a chance to be alone. All great reasons too. I’ve added you to my blogroll if you’ll do the same Happy trails!

Hi, Karla. I found your blog though Mike from Running is Funny. Nice post. In addition to most of the reasons you’ve cited, I run because it defines me, gives me purpose. I like that I am known and referred to as a “runner.” So much better than the alternatives.
